Choosing Gratitude: Seeing Myself Through God’s Eyes

This morning, I feel grateful.

I spend a lot of time being hard on myself. I replay what I did wrong, dwell on what I failed to do, and give too much attention to the negative. But today, I want to pause that thinking. Today, I want to recognize what I’ve done well—the moments when my actions helped someone, the difference I’ve made, and the positive influence I’ve had. I’m certainly not all God wants me to be, but I can still acknowledge this truth: I’ve done a lot of good and I’ve helped a lot of people.

I won’t measure myself through the eyes of those who rejected me. Instead, I’m going to see myself through the eyes of those who accept me—the people who noticed my efforts, valued my work, and were positively affected by what I offered.

God has brought me a long way, and I want to acknowledge that journey. Growth deserves to be recognized. Grace deserves to be received. Sometimes gratitude means taking an honest look at how far we’ve come instead of focusing only on how far we still have to go. God is not only a God of correction. He is kind, merciful, forgiving, comforting, considerate, loving, and full of grace. He is all-knowing and all-powerful—and He does more than know me. He sees me, and He loves me.

That truth gives me a firm foundation. It allows me to build myself up in faith rather than tear myself down with criticism. I can be honest about the ways I still need to grow while also honoring the good God has already cultivated in me

Today, I choose to celebrate progress instead of demanding perfection. I choose to remember the lives I’ve touched, the good I’ve done, and the distance I’ve traveled. Most of all, I choose to see myself through the eyes of the God who knows me completely and loves me still.

Lord, thank You that I am enough. Thank You for the time You spend with me. Thank You for molding and shaping me. Thank You for seeing me, knowing me, and loving me. Simply—thank You
