Faith Beyond The Familiar
Back in April, Pastor A asked the church a pointed question: “Am I saying no to something God wants me to say yes to?” He challenged us to consider whether the trouble we encounter in certain situations may be God’s way of showing us it is time to move forward. He reminded us that God prepares the person before the purpose, and that some challenges are not meant simply to cause problems; they may be guiding us toward the purpose God wants to fulfill in us.
I have been a realtor for more than seven and a half years. My primary focus has been helping first-time home buyers, especially those who are often overlooked or poorly served because their budgets are lower. I have always seen that work as meaningful and purposeful.
At the same time, I have felt a desire to sell more luxury real estate. For a while, that desire created conflict within me. I wondered whether pursuing luxury real estate meant stepping away from my calling. That sermon gave me an epiphany: people need help at every stage and station of life. Someone being financially well-off does not mean they do not need God, or that God cannot use me to serve them in a meaningful way. I need to remain sensitive to what God is doing and where He is leading me.
There was a time when I was selling luxury real estate, but a few negative incidents affected the way I saw myself. They made me question whether I was good enough or had the right skill set. The truth is, I do have the ability, but my confidence was shaken by other people’s opinions. Over time, I began to believe I could not succeed in that market. And as that thought took root, I stopped succeeding in that market.
This is my challenge: to rise above the opinions of others and my own insecurities. I must stand on who God says I am. I am a daughter of the Most High. If God is for me, who can be against me? Nothing is out of reach or too difficult for me to accomplish when I follow God and His teachings.
I believe God is working to change the way I think. The incidents I experienced were real and impactful, but I do not have to remain bound by them. Part of following God is learning to focus on His voice, believe what He says about who I am, and walk in that truth.
Following God means going where He leads, even when I feel afraid or uncertain. My responsibility is to trust His direction and keep moving forward!
Mind Renewing Scriptures
Isaiah 41:10 — Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand.
Psalm 37:23–24 — The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him. Though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with His hand.
Deuteronomy 31:6 — Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Romans 8:28 — And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
1 Peter 5:7 — Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.
