A Day-by-Day God

Give us this day our daily bread. (Matt. 6:11;Luke 11:3(KJV))

Bread represents God’s daily provision. Like the manna He gave the children of Israel, He
gives what we need for today. Recently, I made a life change that left me wondering
whether I truly heard from God. I feel as if I am standing in an open field with no houses,
barns, or landmarks in sight. The only way forward is to listen for God’s voice each day. No
long-range goals. No detailed plan. Just today. It is a faith walk.

Sometimes God gives us a big goal or dream. Other times, He simply says, “Trust Me to
take you where I want you to go. I know better than you. I gave you the intellect you have
relied on before; now I am asking you to lay it aside and follow Me. Let Me prove that I am
trustworthy. I am working in the background in ways you cannot yet imagine.”

When you look at a mall map, you usually see a marker that says, “You are here.” From
there, you can find your destination and plan a route. But when God does the mapping, the
path is not always straight. He may lead you through unexpected experiences, and when
you arrive, you can look back and see His fingerprints on every step. Isaiah 42:16(KJV) says,
“And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they
have not known. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These
things will I do unto them and not forsake them.”

This promise does not mean you will enjoy every twist and turn, and it does not mean
nothing difficult will happen. But it does mean God will not forsake you. He will be with you
every step of the way, and He will bring you to the place He wants you to go. You simply
have to trust Him one day at a time
